DJ QBERT x Buster Keaton to open ZUBROFFKA

DJ Qbert or Richard Quitevis (b. 1969) is an American DJ and composer of Filipino origin, widely regarded as the best scratching DJ in the world!

A member of one of the first turntable groups – Invisibl Scratch Piklz. The champion of DMC USA (1991) and DMC World (1992, 1993, 1994). A DMC 1995 jury member, placed in DMC Hall of Fame (along with Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys). DMC World Championships made QBert and his extraordinary skills famous all over the world. Since that time, no one has surpassed his turntablism mastery. He’s been announced a lifelong scratch ambassador. Qbert has discovered the largest number of techniques of all living turntablists. He has received an honorary Grandmixer knighthood, given to him by a legendary scratch pioneer GrandMixer DXT. In 2010, he was awarded the title of Best DJ of America. His name is on the Mix Mag magazine list of “The Greatest DJs Of All Time” among 35 other prominent figures of DJ scene.

On his solo album “Wave Twisters” (which was an inspiration for a 46-minute animation) he told a story of adventurers, struggling to revive the forgotten art of hip-hop in the grim world of the future. This way he developed his dream that turntable scratches could be the language of communication and serve to communicate with beings from other planets. DJ Qbert is also the protagonist of two documentaries: “Scratch” and “Hang the DJ”, shown at festivals in Cannes and Sundance. This year he returns with a bang by releasing 2 extraordinary albums “Extraterrestria” and “GalaXXXian” (one from space and one from earth.)

Buster Keaton (1895-1966)

One of the biggest stars of silent movies, the legendary comedian with “a great stone face”. Born into a vaudeville family, at the age of three he started performing with his parents. With his acrobatic skills he made it to burlesque shorts, but the real success came in 1923, after the films “Three Ages” and “Our Hospitality,” in which he created his everlasting character: an everyman in the face of disasters and failures, who undisturbingly remains calm. In 1927, Keaton produced the masterpiece of his life – “The General”, a story of the Confederate South engine driver, who tries to recover a locomotive from the hands of northern saboteurs during the Civil War. His success streak was discontinued in the 1930s. Keaton then dealt mainly with inventing gags for other comedians; he did not fare well in his personal life. Only in the middle of the next decade the actor began rebuilding his star status. He returned to Hollywood where Charles Chaplin invited him to appear in “Limelight”. In 1959 Keaton was awarded an honorary Oscar.
