Podlasie Film Breakfast
6.12.2024, 11:30
Klub FAMA, ul. Legionowa 5
ticket: 20 zł – at the kino Forum + https://bilety.bok.bialystok.pl/
We invite you to another inspiring meeting with Podlasie! We believe that a shared tasting of Podlasian dishes and films will spark interesting conversations and offer an opportunity to take a deeper look at this region, which deserves recognition and appreciation both in its culinary and cinematic forms. As in previous years, we present films created in our region by local filmmakers, as well as films shot in Podlasie by other artists.
To start with, we will participate in unique workshops for seniors and receive an unexpectedly bleating gift. We will meet a border guard and his dog, who pursue refugees on the Polish-Belarusian border, and we will also encounter 17-year-old Mili, living in the shadow of her smuggler family. The girl is contemplating a final act, but things take an unexpected turn when a Syrian refugee appears on her ‘last’ path. We will reflect on the relationship between humans and nature, consider its wise cyclicality, and acknowledge the wildness that resides within us all. We will get to know one of the last funeral singers in Podlasie and her son, an undertaker – their everyday life intertwines with death, the ordinary with the supernatural, and reality with dreams. Finally, we will join forces with a two-metre-tall chicken puppet to help a local community whose idyllic rural life is threatened by a group of cunning investors!
