Screening schedule (90′, 16+):

Harda / The Tough
director: Marcin Polar
director of photography: Marcin Polar
Poland 2019, 14′

The name Harda (tough) carries numerous meanings: rebellious, spiteful, impassive, unyielding, rugged, cold, hard. And the film’s hero has had plenty of reasons to use it to describe a place he has discovered and where all those characteristics can be felt, both literally and personally. It stimulates his imagination and pushes him forward in a way that is uncontrolled and obsessive. The camera participates in his step by step push into never explored spaces which more and more forcefully underline the fragility of man.

Story
director: Jola Bańkowska
director of photography: Jola Bańkowska
music: Skillbard
Poland 2019, 5′

The “Story” is a sequence of several scenes about the way everyday life is permeated by the digital world. Presented as a “story”, a popular function offered by most social media today, it shows people who are lonely, lost and at times even indifferent to the reality which surrounds them.

Poland 2019, 20′

An aging couple takes off on a sailing voyage to once more see the lakes they had sailed on throughout their lives. The enclosed space of the yacht provokes them to reflect about their future but also about the days of yore. The nights resound with old familiar melodies.

Acid Rain
director: Tomek Popakul
Poland 2019, 26′

Somewhere in Eastern Europe. A young woman leaves home to get away from her gray surroundings. Initial excitement of hitchhiking quickly passes when, in the middle of the night, she ends up on the outskirts of a city. On a bridge she sees a figure dangerously swaying on the guardrail and meets Chudy a slightly unbalanced eccentric. Chudy lives in a camper which he uses to take care of not-always-legit matters. The girl decides to go with him. Their journey takes them into weirder and weirder places and they quickly develop a strange bond.

Marcel
director: Marcin Mikulski
director of photography: Marcin Mikulski
music: Maks Mikulski, Piotr Kołodyński
Poland 2019, 25′

Marcel goes through life unnoticed by others. The controller in the bus doesn’t check whether he has a ticket, his boss forgets about him when handing out tasks and lovers take no notice of him in their passionate kiss in the elevator. He leads a bliss filled life without responsibilities. But his perfect life falls apart like a house of cards when one morning he saves his neighbor from her suicidal leap off the roof. An avalanche of unpredictable events forces Marcel to consider even the most desperate solutions.
