Podlasie Film Breakfast

Once again, we’ll gather around the Podlasie table and screen. A shared tasting of dishes typical of the region and films shot in Podlasie or created by artists from this part of Poland is a wonderful opportunity for festival-goers to connect and to experience culture in its many dimensions.

On screen, we’ll see an adaptation of Ignacy Karpowicz’s bestselling novel — a subversive reinterpretation of the story of Mary and Joseph, blending biblical style with absurd humour; a psychedelic and dreamlike music video by the cult Polish band Trupa Trupa!; a cinematic portrait of a river whose current intertwines with the current of human life, leading us through a world of nature, ritual, and imagination; and a documentary about Cyprus, a country divided for over 50 years by a buffer zone, where a couple of ecologists — Iris and Salih — fight together for the planet’s future while striving to build bridges between Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Finally, at the edge of the country, the forest, and the law, together with Jola we’ll face a choice — between fear, a confrontation with her son, and conscience. Sadly, despite the passing of years, the humanitarian crisis on the Polish-Belarusian border continues.
