Special programme: georgian shorts from Batumi Art-House Film Festival

This year Batumi International Art-house Film Festival is presenting collection of Georgian shorts at Zubroffka film festival. BIAFF which started in 2006 in Batumi, is gradually developing and becoming one of the major international film events in Georgia. BIAFF has been actively cooperating with Poland for many years and each year we present Polish films in various sections, many Polish filmmakers visited BIAFF, including K. Zanussi, Z. Rybczyński, J. Radziwiłowicz, J. Stuhr, P. Pawlikowski etc.

Georgian collection of shorts presented at Zubroffka film festival consists of films from 2012-2013. Some of them (“Doctor”, “Most Precious”) touch upon various social issues, life of young generation in modern Georgia. “Black Mulberry” shows love story of young people who live in different cities and meet each other by chance.

Georgian cinema, through active work of Georgian National Film Center and rapidly developing international co-production, has been gradually evolving during recent years and recovering from stagnation that occurred after the collapse of the Soviet Union. A new generation of filmmakers has emerged with a new vision and approach.

We hope that Short films collection of young Georgian filmmakers will be interesting for Bialystok audience. On behalf of BIAFF we want to express our gratitude to ZUBROFFKA Film festival  for giving us an opportunity to present Georgian shorts to Polish (and not only) people and hope to continue our cooperation in the future .
