ŻUBROFFKA Special: YELLOW STICKY NOTES – CANADIAN ANIJAM

“Yellow Sticky Notes – Canadian Anijam” is a set films by Jeff Chiba Stearns and his studio Meditating Bunny. In a documentary “One Big Hapa Family” and animation “What Are You Anyways?” the author takes us on a personal journey to his Japanese roots and problems connected with his origin. “Ode to a Post-it Note” and “Yellow Sticky Notes” explore animation techniques by means of ordinary yellow sticky notes, which for Jeff are as important as canvas for Rembrandt. He even managed to bring together a dozen most influential Canadian animators to self-reflect on one day of their lives, using only yellow sticky notes a black pen.

Jeff Chiba Stearns is a Canadian filmmaker of Japanese and European descent. He studied animation in Vancouver, founded his own production company Meditating Bunny and is actively involved in making animated films and documentaries for children and adults. He often creates entertaining and informative stories about identity, based on his life experience. He is the author of the term “hapanimation”, describing his style which is a mixture of Japanese and American animation.

“Yellow Sticky Notes” (2007) is one of his greatest achievements – the film won the Audience Award at the International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand and many other awards throughout the world.
