KRAB
CRAB
director: Piotr Chmielewski
Polska, 2022, 8’42’’

In this film we are taking a perspective of the crab and through his eyes and ears we are able to discover worlds that he lives in. Animals are our silent companions; they have witnessed the greatest achievements and most horrible failures of humankind. They live their lives parallel to ours – they are our food, our tools or, in the best case, we just don’t notice them. What will happen if we try to take their perspective? How events that we all know from history lessons may look like through the eyes of the animals who witnessed it?

It was only supposed to be three months in Germany… Unexpectedly, the plans of the woman and her daughter, who were going abroad, were changed by the introduction of martial law. Will it turn out that their grandmother, who said before they left that they would never see each other again, was right? A documentary animation in which the narrator recalls her own story. A nostalgic tale of loneliness, longing and the unpredictability of human fate, through which we are led by a little girl and a teddy bear named Koralgol, with the lullaby “Z popielnika na Wojtusia…” echoing in the background.
