ŻUBROFFKA Special: German Film Breakfast

Guten Morgen – Grüß Gott! The German film breakfast is an attempt to look at Germany. Germany? Is it even possible to generalise in this way? These kinds of stereotypes can lead us astray in the propaganda of culture and history. Social and economic dynamics based on a global online presence free us from national forms of world perception. Where the national gaze rules consciousness, war is around the corner….

The German Film Breakfast is not only an opportunity for a culinary taste of German culture, but also a chance to see how Germans see their country in a multicultural and political everyday life. Young German cinema – and this is what a short film is – will allow you to see Germany in all its complexity of emotions, themes, fears and desires. Only without prejudice can you meet your neighbour and get to know his world.
For the films, the ‘chef’ recommends: leberkäsesemmel, i.e. tasty leberkäse (roast) buns with traditional sweet mustard, obazda buns, i.e. cheese paste made from camembert and hot peppers, kartoffelsalat (with vinegar sauce), cucumber pickles from the Spreewald and other delicacies. Enjoy!
