This year the international documentary film festival in Georgia – CinéDOC-Tbilisi presents a special selection of short documentaries from the Caucasus. The audience of Zubroffka film festival will be given a glimpse into a special atmosphere through this selection of films showcased under the title – “Adaptation”. CinéDOC-Tbilisi presents four shorts in the framework of the selection. The films accent moments of adapting, or merely surrendering reality. Notably, the selection shares the name with one of the presented films – “Adaptation” – a visual journey in the city of Yerevan constructed by black and white images of people sharing the same time and space in different settings and levels of society… While, “Once Upon a Time in Shanghai” opens a door in the lives of people who have been immensely affected by inevitable changes, and have been forced to adapt to the new reality… “God, Thank You for Tea” is a story about a village in Georgia – Litauri – a place famous for tea plantations all over the USSR, which has been struggling ever since the union collapsed. The residents of the village somehow found ways to survive unescapable changes. The fourth film in the selection, “Nanuli and Gogi”, is a tale-like film in the life of an elderly couple who have created their own reality, living in harmony with nature. This is a story of two people who managed to create their own life to which it seems easier to adapt… The authors manage to discover poetry in everyday life which is a common feature of the films in this selection. They tell stories of people whose lives progress in a different rhythm. The viewer is led through a nostalgic ambiance consisting of poetic moments, transforming real life into a cinematic experience.
