GRUZJA: LEGION
directors: Kamil Wójcik, Cat Kaczmarek
Poland 2024, 5′

The Polish ’90s were a difficult time for an eight-year-old. Dark school corridors, gloomy housing estates. Gray. Desperation. The solution seems to be to escape to colorful virtual world of computer games. But the catechist doesn’t approve of it. Games are bad – they will destroy you! That’s what he says. The games are a lie. The devil is lurking in games. They cannot be trusted. Can not trust no one. Even more so a masked figure with bandages on his face.

ARCA & TOKISCHA: CHAMA

His teacher snaps him back to reality: it’s time for him to share his poem about an unforgettable moment from the summer.

Afterparty with Piernikowski!

Robert Piernikowski (b. 1979) – a composer, music producer, lyricist, MC, and co-founder of the bands NP and Syny, living and creating in Poznań. He is one of the most innovative figures on the Polish electronic music scene.

He embarked on a solo career in 2012 with the debut album “Się Żegnaj” (Few Quiet People). The album’s rich blend of styles and micro-genres formed a unique mosaic through which Piernikowski narrated stories from his childhood spent in Świnoujście. The warmly received debut and distinctive concerts led to his collaboration with theatre director Jan Klata on three productions (“Król Edyp”, “Termopile Polskie”, “Wróg Publiczny”). In 2014, he launched a new project, Syny (a duo with 1988), during the LDZ Music Festival, contributing both vocals and production. In 2017, Piernikowski released his second solo album, “No Fun”, exploring contemporary music with an atmosphere steeped in tension, darkness, and a claustrophobic mood. This release ranked highly in end-of-year summaries. His subsequent album, “The Best of Moje Getto”, released by Asfalt Records in 2019, affirmed his impressive form and earned him a nomination for the Paszporty Polityki award in the Popular Music category. Another notable release was the instrumental soundtrack for his self-directed film “Świat jest jak Echo”. His latest album, “Beyond Echo of Time”, was released this year.
