Opening of comics exhibition: Paying for It. A Comic Strip Memoir about Being a John

Chester Brown is a well-known Canadian cartoonist. Once when his girlfriend dumped him, he lived several years of celibacy, carefully assessing the negative sides of romantic love. Then he decided never to have a permanent girlfriend, and start paying for sex… He brought his decision into effect. He included all his experiences associated with it each of the prostitutes in the graphic novel “Paying for it.”.

This successful comics, is not only a kind of diary of Brown, but also his polemic with the opponents of the legalization of prostitution. Among its enthusiasts were Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore, who said: “Chester Brown is perhaps one of the most unpretentious, sincere and significant voices in the world of contemporary comics, and this book is his most moving work. “Paying for it.” explores the lives of customers of the oldest profession in the world and it does so with subtlety, intelligence, and at the same time without a hint of sentiment or self-justification.”. Robert Crumb, the legend of the underground comic book, wrote the introduction stressing that it is probably the best work of Chester Brown. “Paying for It” was released in Poland by Centrala Publishing Company.
