ŻUBROFFKA Special: Animated documentaries

Animated documentaries are back at ŻUBROFFKA! This time you are going to see a renowned film by Marcus Armitage, nominated for BAFTA and Annency International prize –winner My Dad; A Bird in the Cage, London Feminist Film Festival winner – a film about Lady Rhondda who devoted her life to women’s rights in the first half of 20th century; a renowned English mockumentary by Tara Mercedes Wood (Wood Things Used to Be Hidden) and also an animated interview with a crazy band called Holy Modal Rounders. Dutch Supporting Film focuses on the relationship between the viewer and the film; and Swedish I Was a Winner raises the subject of computer games addiction. Two other films are DOK Leipzig 2015 winner, poetic Spirited Away by Betina Kuntzsch, using found footage from 1900; and Israeli documentary about gays in Tel Aviv (the director’s grandpa was born in Bialystok!). Such a worthy group also includes a film by Bialystok-born Ewa Smyk, which is a personal reflection on the family memory – the script was based on her grandfather’s diary.
