Journalist Jury (the World)

It is with great joy that we present Journalist Jury (the World)!

The jury will decide which film (entered into Fiction.pl, Documentary.pl or Animation.pl) will receive the best Polish film award.

Matej Sotník
Matej Sotník co-founded and leads a Slovak distribution company Film Expanded, within which he focuses on distribution strategies for documentary films, marketing and fundraising and organizes the Echoes of Ji.hlava in Bratislava. He studied audiovisual studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, screenwriting at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, and spent a semester at Department of Documentary Film at FAMU. With documentary filmmakers Marek Šulík and Miro Remo, he founded alternative distribution platform Documentary on Wheels. He is a member of an editorial board and head of a film section of an engaged monthly magazine Kapitál. Currently he is producing a documentary debut of Paula Ďurinová called “Interiors”.

Marta Bałaga
Marta Bałaga is a film journalist. She has published in “Cineuropa”, “Variety” and regularly contributes to Finnish film magazine “Episodi”, as well as Dwutygodnik and “Wysokie Obcasy” in Poland. Awarded by Estonian cultural weekly “SIRP”. She has collaborated with various festivals, including Helsinki International Film Festival – Love & Anarchy, its industry sidebar Finnish Film Affair and Les Arcs Film Festival. She led a workshop for film journalists at FilmFestival Cottbus in 2019 and recently moderated such events as a masterclass with Casey Affleck at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, where she also joined the Festival Daily, and a masterclass with Juliette Binoche at the Zurich Film Festival in 2020. Member of the Finnish Critics’ Association SARV, International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI and the European Film Academy, where she has joined the committee deciding the nominations for the European Discovery 2019, 2020 and 2021 – Prix FIPRESCI. She has served on many juries, including Tampere Film Festival and Venice International Film Critics’ Week at the Venice Film Festival in 2019.

Alin Ludu Dumbravă
One of the most important film critics in Romania , play-writer, director and festival producer, he wrote many movie scripts and worked for many important TV networks: HBO, Discovery Chanel, PRO Tv , Pro Cinema, Antena 1 . He worked as a producer for the Dracula Film Festival, Doc and Roll Film Festival, Love Story Film Festival and Comedy Cluj Film Festival. A movie critic whose reviews can be read in many important magazines, like “PRO Cinema”, “VIP”, “Revista HBO”, “Observatorul Cultural”, “Ziua”, “Sunete”, “Art&Roll”, “Campus”, “Republik”, “Freestyle”, “Atitudini”. Dumbrava is also among the special envoyees at the Cannes Film Festival.
