Short films are often seen as more friendly to women than the world of full-length feature films, where more money is at stake. For many women-directors, the road leading from short films to a feature-length debut is often more difficult than for their male colleagues. Why is this happening? Female directors and producers from Eastern Europe will talk about the presence of women in cinema and the realities of working in a mostly male environment. They will share their experiences and insights. How do they perceive the position of women in short films? Do female directors need to fight for it and resort to extreme measures to be respected on the set? Do they feel good in the film world or see some barriers? What is the celluloid ceiling and does it exist? Do women have to be more gifted and more determined than their male colleagues to become successful? What needs to change to have more women present in film industry?

We are going to talk about it with the founders and editors of media and platforms where short films appear more often than once in a blue moon. How do they promote the shorts? Is it a lucrative business or hard grassroots work? Can publicity affect the success of the film? What is the future of media promoting short films? These topics will be faced by panellists from various European countries who will have an opportunity to present trends and best practices relating to the promotion of films in the media (not just the Internet).

The meeting of film festivals, film industry and filmmakers – parties that still have much to complain about, but also a lot to offer. What do festivals expect from filmmakers? What films are they looking for? What do filmmakers expect from festivals, do they have any ideas how to make the communication easier? We wish to invite artists and our guests from film industry to a casual discussion about festival activities, work of selectors, film submissions and festival strategies. We also give the artists a chance to meet the industry representatives and learn how particular short film festivals stand out from thousands of others. Last but not least, with a little help of Podlasian wild nature, we want to supply them with positive energy for the whole year!
